Preserve is an ongoing series of works that take the citrus fruit as a starting point. These pieces frame an experience of the fruiting body which is shared between species, and as a poetic and material vehicle for thinking about replication and reproduction. The fruit is held in a moment of pause, their insides exposed. The skins are tiny, empty shells, the solid cast forms full to burst with transparent glass, casting sprues still intact. Glass holds the key to the work; a material in a constant state of movement, able to be formed and reformed again and again, each firing leaving a trace within the material. These works allude to flesh, fertility, fecundity, rot and growth using materials that are unfixed and processes of replication which are on repeat.
